There should be an idler pulley. It’s not connected to anything…
Get a socket set and the right sized socket and latch it onto the bolt in the center of the idler pulley. Pull the pulley down slightly and you can change it out. I haven’t heard of a slack adjuster… chances are good that if the belt is squealing or causing other problems then it should be replaced. The belts are reinforced but over time (and lots of heat) they can stretch slightly.
